Interviewer: So, mr. Hornsleth, what is going on here on this painting?
Hornsleth: Well, the lines are pure super subjective meditative strokes somewhere between writing and drawing.
I have no idea where I am going when once I begin. It reminds me of when I improvise playing music. Keeping away from any song we know, and still worth listening to. Between simplicity and noise.
I begin with applying paint in large chaotic strokes on the canvas, and then I spend endless hours 'cleaning' up and outline all the lines and edges, in my very subjective way.
Anyone else doing this would select other lines to mark out. And that is the point. We all interpret the world around us very differently. Each one of us nine billion people on this planet have something personal to share.
Painting like this is almost like a state of consciousness where abstraction becomes a language itself. Hope it makes sense. Maybe my interpretation of this beautiful noise can inspire the viewer of this art piece!
